Someone tried sweet potatoes tonight, and he liked it! Unfortunately, the excitement was short lived due to the extreme exhaustion from daycare. No worries, we will try again. I forgot how messy this baby food business is.
I’m very determined to have at least one child who is an adventurous eater, so I will be making baby food as much as possible this time. It was too intimidating the first time around. We bought most of baby food for Estelle, and our food offerings were never very diverse. The proof is in the pudding. Estelle is getting better about trying new food, but that’s a recent development and for the most part, she doesn’t like what she tries. Unless, of course, it’s dessert…that apple didn’t fall far from the mommy tree.
I’m taking most of my cues from the book, French Kids Eat Everything. My method will be veggies and grains first, fruit later. I’ve also heard praise for Baby Led Weaning, but I haven’t really investigated fully. Does anyone have much experience with that? I want to introduce lots of textures AND tastes, not just one or the other.
Even in their plain pureed state, these local in-season sweet potatoes are delightful!
Sweet William, here’s to a lifetime of great food and happy eating!
